Specialist AGA Servicing, Repairs & Maintenance

AGA range cookers are iconic appliances that require specialist knowledge and care to maintain their performance and efficiency. We have extensive experience servicing, repairing, and maintaining oil-fired AGA cookers, ensuring your range operates perfectly year-round.

AGA cookers work differently from conventional ovens. Traditional models provide constant, gentle heat stored in heavy cast iron, with each oven maintained at a specific temperature ideal for different cooking methods. The radiant heat creates distinctive cooking results that AGA owners cherish.

Oil-fired AGAs burn kerosene to heat the cast iron body, which then radiates heat to the ovens and hotplates. Modern AGA models include programmable features allowing you to control when the cooker is on, improving efficiency whilst maintaining the classic AGA cooking experience.

Why Your AGA Needs Specialist Servicing

AGAs are precision appliances requiring specialist knowledge for proper maintenance. Unlike standard boilers, AGAs operate continuously in traditional models and have unique combustion systems requiring specific adjustment. The burner assembly needs expert calibration for efficient, clean burning, and the flue system requires regular inspection to ensure safe operation.

Annual servicing by qualified engineers prevents problems, maintains efficiency, and ensures your AGA operates safely. Regular maintenance also protects your investment—a well-maintained AGA can last for decades.

AGA Conversions and Upgrades

AGAs can be converted between fuel types or upgraded with modern controls. We can convert AGAs from oil to electric or install programmable controls on traditional models. Conversions require specialist knowledge to ensure proper operation and safety. We assess your AGA, discuss your requirements, and provide expert recommendations on the best options for your circumstances.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does an oil boiler work?
Oil Boilers work similar to gas boilers with some slight differences. Firstly, oil is drawn from a storage tank via a pump into the burner inside the boiler. Secondly, The oil is pressurized to a high pressure and ejected from a nozzle that atomizes the fuel. The fuel is then ignited inside a combustion chamber and the exhaust gases are expelled through a heat exchanger, heating the water that lies in the water jacket around the heat exchanger, and finally out of the flue terminal into open air. The heated water is then pumped around the heating system and returns back to the boiler cooler than when it left to be reheated.
As a general rule you could count the number of radiators on your system allowing 1.5kw per radiator and then add 3kw for a hot water cylinder for example, however it is best to consult a heating engineer like myself to carry out a whole house survey. We will also look at the insulation properties of the home and take into consideration how much heat the property is likely to loose over a period of time and also consider any upgrades to the property you may be likely to undertake in the future.
Boilers should be replaced when you start to find issues with them. This could be anything from frequent breakdowns or odd smells, to low performance or leaks. It’s usually easier to get the work carried out in summer because boiler engineers are less busy at that time of the year. And you won’t be cold while your new boiler is being installed.
