…you’ve brought a home with a real fireplace or possibly a stove. You can’t wait to get the essentials unpacked and celebrate your new chapter in front of a roaring fire. But how do you know if it’s safe to light it in your new home?
If you’ve recently moved into a property that has a solid fuel appliance and have not been supplied with a compliance certificate or any paperwork stating that the chimney or appliance have been maintained, then give us a call. If its an open fire, Multi-fuel stove, wood burner, open fire back boiler, solid fuel Rayburn / AGA cooker, we can offer a safety check service that will determine if it is fit for purpose and safe to use.
Any defects will be noted and remedial recommendations explained to you on the day and if needed we can send a quote to you for the works required to bring your existing appliance up to current regulations.
After our visit you’ll know more about what appliance you have, how it should be used, how to get the best out of it and if there are any remedial repairs to do and how best to go about doing them.
Check all internal removeable parts of the stove or fireplace
Sweep and camera inspect the existing flue for soot and creosote deposits and any defects.
We will then perform a smoke evacuation and spillage test to ensure the correct flue draught is achieved for the appliance and that no products of combustion will spill out into the room during use.
We will then give you advice on what fuels should be used and the most efficient way to use them to get the most out of your appliance.
Ensure you have a working CO (carbon monoxide) alarm. If not we can supply you one at an additional £25.
Documentation will be provided of works carried out for your insurance purposes, with any recommendations.
